Created in honor of the New York Knicks historic playoff run and incredible win at the 2026 NBA Finals, this illustration was inspired by the cult classic sci-fi film Starship Troopers (1997). The Knicks' played the San Antonio Spurs for the world championship – a team headed by young star Victor Wembanyama, who brands himself as an alien, thanks to his otherworldly height of 7'4". This was a perfect opportunity to draw parallels between the determined Knicks team and their battle with this alien, by refashioning them as interplanetary warriors. Concept by: Hasaan Thomas.
