Rotoscoped animation based on a live, improvised jazz and dance performance at the Battery Park waterfront in New York City. The performance featured esperanza spalding on vocals and upright bass, facing a small stage where three dancers improvised movement in response to her as she played and sang with her own two musicians. The improvisation moved in both directions, with esperanza responding to the dancers as well. I edited down my footage of the performance, and accentuated each artist within their own composition and color scheme to build upon the artists' collaborative, ceremonial, and otherworldly work from my own perspective.
