ON MY WAY!
I grew up in New York City and the iconic visuals of every day life there have stayed with me and continue to be in inspiration. I created this animated, looping GIF depicting a jaunty yellow NYC taxi rolling down the street with a Cats Broadway show ad on its roof -- a classic symbol of the city.
I set out to create an animation inspired by the city where I grew up, in a way that alluded to the nighttime scene of a Friday or Saturday in the city, when the many taxi cabs are transporting people around. I started with a loose pencil sketch and worked to keep that playful, hand drawn quality as I drew the frames in Illustrator. The speed of the lines along the bottom is not too fast, indicating a leisurely, or traffic slogged drive, and the bump of the cab suggests the quite uneven streets and exciting vibe of New York. Tools used: Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
